TrustBanc Arthur is a division of TrustBanc Asset Management under the TrustBanc Group and positioned to create impact investments aimed at achieving human well-being and communal good life. TrustBanc Arthur’s focus is then tailored towards an integral finance model that promotes overall socio-economic development where ethical and Shariah-compliant tools are modelled for man’s happiness. 

TrustBanc Arthur’s strategic plan is to evolve a neo-modern mix of business ventures and investments in sukuk, real estate & infrastructure, structured trade & commodities, clean energy and technology, health-care and screened equities. Priority is then given to such unique equity and convenient debt type of investments that allow progressive growth trajectory pattern to be established.

Mr. Jimoh is a hands-on leader who has held the position of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer at Coronation Merchant Bank since April 2011, beginning at Associated Discount House Limited (ADH).

He has worked for more than 20 years in treasury, credit risk management and project management capacities. Mr. Jimoh was a pioneer staff member of Express Discount Limited, where he rose to the level of Head of Trading before relocating to Canada in 1998. He held various positions at RBC Financial Group (Royal Bank of Canada) between 1999 and 2005. Mr. Jimoh proceeded to work at African Development Bank (AfDB), where he rose to the position of Divisional Chief and was in charge of Private Sector Portfolio Management. Additionally, Mr. Jimoh served as GM and Divisional Head, Balance Sheet Management, Market Risk and Investor Relations at UBA Group prior to his career at ADH.

One of his notable achievements include the transformation of ADH from a failing Discount House to a Merchant Bank (Coronation Merchant Bank Group) with an A rating. He was also an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Shelter Afrique in Nairobi, Kenya between 2012 and 2013.

Basheer Oshodi (PhD) is the CEO and co-founder of TrustBanc Arthur with over 20-years’ work experience in banking, real-estate and academia. He was Group Head, Non-Interest Banking at Sterling Bank and set up the non-interest banking window since 2013.  He was a member of the Non-Interest Finance Working Group – sponsored by EFInA (DFID programme) and was a member of SEC Alternative Finance Market Master Plan Committee. Basheer was Head, Non-Interest Finance and Head, Research at EFInA. He was Head, Islamic Banking Risk & Compliance at Stanbic IBTC Bank (a member of Standard Bank Group) and set up the non-interest banking window in 2009. He also initiated products compliant with non-interest finance principles for Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Ltd. He has worked as an investment analyst and business analyst in other capacities.

Basheer holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Estate Management and General Management respectively from the University of Lagos. He has a PGD from the Institute of Islamic Banking & Insurance (IIBI), London and he is an Associate Fellow of the institution. He obtained a master’s in research (MRes) Business & Management from London Metropolitan University; started MPhil Economics from the University of Buckingham, UK; and a Ph.D. in Management of Innovation & Technology from DaVinci Institute for Technology Management, Modderfontein, South Africa in conjunction with Trans4m Center for Integral Development, Geneva where he specialized in development economics and Islamic finance. He has completed the Executive Programme on International Housing Finance at Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, USA; Digital Business Strategy at Columbia University, USA; and undergoing a Diploma in Global Business at the University of Oxford.

 

Usman Balogun is the Executive Director Investments and co-founder of TrustBanc Arthur. Prior to taking his current role, Usman worked as Head Mass Market (retail sales) and Ag. Head Non-Interest Banking at Keystone Bank Limited. He has over 12-year experience in the financial services industry covering products, retail, research and non-interest banking. He also works as the research officer at Finance Accreditation Agency Malaysia (under Central Bank Malaysia) between 2015-2017.  His early banking career started with Stanbic IBTC Bank.

Usman obtained a Bachelor of Science Education in Chemistry from Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto and Post Graduate Diploma in Management from same institution. He obtained a Master Degree in Management from the International Islamic University Malaysia, and a PhD in Economics and Muamalat Administration from University Sains Islam Malaysia.

He was involved as a Member – Secretariat Committee for development of Islamic Finance Professional Qualification Structure (IFPQS) FAA (2016); and Member – Secretariat Committee for Development of Islamic Finance Professional Program Structure (IFPPS) FAA, 2015. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF).

Azeez is the Head of Non-interest Projects and is responsible for overseeing all non-interest projects across all investments and asset classes. With over a decade of cogent experience in the real estate sector, Azeez has been involved in the conceptualization and implementation of several multi-billion Naira projects across the country.

His holistic and analytic appraisal of projects are informed by his core competence and experience in real estate finance, Islamic finance modelling, marketing, business development, facility management, customer service, research and real estate valuation. Prior to joining TrustBanc Ethical, Azeez has held various management roles in top real estate organizations such as Prindex Properties where was as the Head of Marketing and Business Development.

Azeez holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Estate Management from the University of Lagos and a Master’s Degree in Housing Development and Management from the same institution where he wrote a paper on Islamic finance as an alternative source of housing finance.

Shaikh Abubakar is an AAOIFI Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor with over a decade experience in Islamic financial services. He holds a Master’s degree in Islamic Finance from INCEIF University, Kuala Lumpur and an LLB degree in Islamic Law from Al-Imam University Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has been involved in product development, Shariah research and approval of Islamic banking products for different clients. His work covers retail banking, corporate banking and project finance.

 

Abubakar is currently an ACE Member of Sterling Alternative Finance, Sterling Bank Plc., Nigeria since June 2013 to date working to ensure that the window is Shariah compliant on all its dealings. He also works as a Shariah Adviser to Shape Knowledge Services - Shape Financial Corp/University Bank, USA and began his work from April 1, 2010 to date. Over a decade, he has been working for several clients on product development and Shariah consulting.

 

Previously he had his professional Shariah training at Fajr Capital Plc Kuala Lumpur (August 2008 - January 2009), an asset management company. After successfully completing the training at Fajr Capital Plc, Abubakar worked as a Shariah researcher at the research arm of the Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM), the International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance, ISRA, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (from 1st March 2008 - 30th April, 2010). During that stint, Abubakar carried out extensive research work on Islamic capital market, Takaful, Fatwa indexation, Islamic Money Market. Similarly, he did extensive translation work by rendering the Fatwas in Arabic Language into English and vis-à-vis.

AbdulHakeem Mobolaji Abdul Lateef is an experienced senior legal practitioner with over twenty-eight years post call experience. He has served the Lagos State Government in various capacities: commissioner for Home Affairs, Lagos from 2015 to 2019; before then he was appointed as Special Adviser on Political and Legislative Powers from 2007 to 2011. He also served as a Member Lagos State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2007. He was appointed Amirul Hajj of 2019 Lagos State Muslim Pilgrimage and also awarded Lagos State Man of the Year LASMAYA 2018.

 

Abdulhakem obtained his bachelor of law from the University of Lagos. He obtained six Masters Degrees in various field of business, MSc in Management from the University of Liverpool, UK and a PhD in Law. He is a fellow and member of several professional bodies including the Nigerian Bar Association and International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance.

 

He has attended several leadership and professional trainings including Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Fintech Technology Programme at Said Business School, Oxford University, UK; Transformational Leadership Course at Judge Business School, University of Cambridge; Strategic Decision Making for Management course at the London School of Economics and Political Science LSE, UK; and Top Executives Leadership Programme TELP at American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Lateef Onireti Ibraheem is a prominent Islamic scholar with vast knowledge of Arabic, Islamic Studies and Jurisprudent.  He is currently the representative of the Faculty of Arts on the Senate of the University of Ilorin, Ilorin (Unilorin). Before then he was Ag. HOD, Department of Arabic, University of Ilorin from 2016 to 2018. He was also an Assistant Director, Advancement Centre (AC), 2013 and 2016 Assistant Director, Centre for International Education, University of Ilorin, between 2008 and 2013.

He served on various occasions as a representative of the faculty of arts to various faculties at the University of Ilorin Secretary, Chief External Examiner Group, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Nigeria from 2017 to date.

Lateef Onereti who is also an Associate Professor of Arabic obtained a PhD (Arabic) From University of Ilorin in 2011, Post Graduate Diploma (P.G.D) in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL), King Saud University, Saudi Arabia in 2007. He obtains a M.A. Degree from University of Ilorin in 2002, and B.A. (Hons) Degree, (2nd Class Upper), from the same University in 1995.

He is also the Mufti (Grand Jurist) of Ojoku Town, Kwara State and Chief Imam, Badruddinl-Islami Assalat Circle Central Mosque, Danialu, Ilorin, Nigeria.
